Every Child Can Learn Math
We reject the idea that some children are just 'not math people.' With the right approach, the right pacing, and the right environment, every child can develop genuine math ability.
Our Story

Trishna Singh founded Math Sprouts Academy out of a conviction that every child deserves to understand and enjoy math — not just memorize it. Her path to founding this program weaves together deep academic expertise, a family tradition of teaching, and the up-close perspective of a parent watching her own children begin their school journey.
Trishna holds a master's degree in engineering and spent over 10 years as a professor at the university level in Nepal. Teaching wasn't just a job — it ran in her family. Her father served as a school principal for 36 years, shaping hundreds of young lives in that role. Her mother was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years. Growing up surrounded by dedicated educators gave Trishna an early and lasting appreciation for what great teaching looks like.
When Trishna moved to the United States, she continued giving back to education by volunteering as a classroom helper at a local California elementary school. It was there that she began to see firsthand how early the gap between struggling and thriving in math can open — and how much a caring, attentive teacher can do to close it.
The final inspiration came from the most personal place possible: her own twin daughters starting Kindergarten. Watching them encounter new concepts, supporting their curiosity, and seeing their faces light up (or cloud over) with math challenges made everything concrete. Trishna saw an opportunity to create something she wished had existed — a small, warm, rigorous learning space where young students could build a genuine foundation in mathematics.
Math Sprouts Academy is that space. Located near Rosemary Hills in Silver Spring, MD, the program offers Monday after-school classes for Kindergarten through Grade 6, with classes of 10–15 students with two teachers and a curriculum carefully aligned with MCPS standards.
What We Believe
We reject the idea that some children are just 'not math people.' With the right approach, the right pacing, and the right environment, every child can develop genuine math ability.
A child who feels safe to make mistakes learns faster than one who is afraid to try. We build confidence first — the curriculum follows naturally when a child believes in themselves.
Memorized procedures break down the moment a problem looks different. True understanding is flexible, durable, and transferable. We teach the why, not just the how.
No two children learn at the same pace, and that's fine. We assess each child's current understanding and build from there — never making any child feel behind.

Spaces are limited — we keep our groups small so every child gets the attention they deserve.
